Two ways to build a cloud paging system
Start fresh with network speakers, keep the speakers you have, or mix both in the same building.
Verkada Sound Systems is a cloud-managed commercial audio line: PoE network speakers and network audio players, all run from Verkada Command. It handles paging, live and text-to-speech announcements, background music and camera-triggered warnings across one building or thousands.
PoE speakers: one cable for power and audio
A PoE speaker takes power and audio over a single Ethernet cable from a network switch. There is no amplifier rack and no dedicated speaker wire back to a head end, so each speaker installs like a network device and shows up in Command on its own.
- In-ceiling: the NS261 sits flush in a 10.5-inch cutout, with PoE passthrough to feed a second speaker from one switch port.
- Outdoor: the IP66-rated NS631-E mounts on a wall or junction box for docks, yards and walkways.
- Tabletop: the NS151 runs on Wi-Fi or Ethernet for front desks and small rooms.
Upgrade your overhead paging system without rewiring
Most commercial buildings already have ceiling speakers and an amplifier. A Verkada network audio player connects to that amplifier and puts the whole overhead paging system under cloud control, so the speakers in the ceiling stay where they are.
- NP21: two line inputs and two outputs, as mono feeds or a stereo pair; tabletop or half-width rack.

When a Verkada camera detects suspicious activity, a nearby speaker can play a warning automatically, so someone in a closed yard hears it before any damage is done.

What a Verkada sound system costs
A system is priced in three parts: the hardware, a cloud license for each device, and installation. Hardware and license prices are Verkada's published US list prices.
- Speakers: from $899 (NS151), $999 (NS261 in-ceiling) and $1,199 (NS631-E outdoor).
- Audio players: $1,199 for the two-channel NP21 and $2,999 for the 16-channel NP81.
- Licenses: a network speaker license starts at $29 a year; audio player licenses are priced per player.
- Music: Soundtrack streaming is an optional, separate subscription.
Installation depends on how many speakers you need, ceiling type and height, whether PoE switch ports and cable runs already exist, and how much existing paging equipment can be reused. We price it after a site walk. Every license term is on the license price list.

What is Verkada Sound Systems?
Verkada Sound Systems is Verkada's cloud-managed commercial audio line, launched in September 2026. It includes PoE network speakers and network audio players, all managed in Verkada Command, for paging, announcements, background music and camera-triggered deterrence across one site or thousands.
What is a PoE speaker?
A PoE (Power over Ethernet) speaker gets both its power and its audio over one standard network cable. There is no separate amplifier or speaker wire run back to a head-end rack, which makes installation simpler and lets each speaker be managed over the network.
Can I keep my existing overhead paging speakers?
Often, yes. A Verkada network audio player (the two-channel NP21 or the 16-channel NP81) connects to amplifiers and speakers you already own and puts them under cloud control, so you can modernize an overhead paging system without rewiring the building.
How much does a Verkada sound system cost?
Hardware starts at $899 for the NS151 speaker, $999 for the NS261 in-ceiling speaker and $1,199 for the NP21 audio player at US list price. Each network speaker needs a license (from $29 per year), and Soundtrack music streaming is a separate optional subscription. Is a paging system the same as a fire alarm voice evacuation system?
No. Code-required emergency voice evacuation is a listed life-safety system under the fire code. A business paging system like Verkada Sound Systems is for everyday announcements, music and deterrence, and is not a substitute for a code-required fire alarm system.
Does it work with Verkada cameras?
Yes. Sound Systems runs in the same Command platform as Verkada cameras, so a speaker can play a warning automatically when a camera detects suspicious activity, for example in a closed yard after hours.
Do you install outside the Bay Area?
Yes. Monarch is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and designs, installs and supports Verkada systems for customers across the United States.
